Find out what actual users have to say about our courses through their Rocket Languages reviews.
On the plus side:
• I like the way grammatical rules are discussed in understandable, laymans’ terms
• It’s easy to learn/revise words and phrases
• It’s easy to develop your listening skills to understand what people are saying and its easy to develop skills in identifying what to say
But there is room for improvement:
• Speech recognition needs improvement
o Gives some poor pronunciation 100%, but doesn’t recognise closer attempts
o When sentences are long it often cuts you off
o Often (every session) crashes for no reason and you have to log in again
• Its easy to put all your effort into reading and writing – rather than developing listening and speaking skills
I ike the program for sure but I find the tests a bit too easy. I don't consider myself as good as 95% and 96%. I find I forget very quickly so have to redo the sessions over and over again before I feel that anything is really sticking in my brain
Overall, Rocket French is a solid product for beginners like me who are starting to learn French. The interactive audio lessons are well constructed, and with the various assessment tools the overall learning experience is more than what you would typically expect from an online offering. The quality of the lessons are somewhat similar to the ones from a private tutor. Even though the price for all 3 levels combined is on the higher end, I've found it to be well worth the money. I would recommend this to a French learner!
I've used Rocket Languages for two languages now (Korean and Japanese) and have yet to regret either purchase. Rocket Languages is, in my opinion, a straight-forward and effective interface for all of my language needs.
I even use the program to brush up on advanced Spanish skills from time to time and have seen good results in a reasonable time frame. No doubt one of my better investments of both time and money!
Rocket Languages is the most motivating online learning program I have ever used. I have been learning Korean for almost 2 years and there are times when I skip a few days of practice simply because I lose interest. Repetition does that to you. The points and badge system encourage you to work every day and compete with the other Rocket users. It gives you the strength to go each day and have even more fun learning the language.
I've already recommended it to a few Korean language students I know. Hopefully they surrender and check it out.
I have been learning German and I am happy with the results as I can understand some words now when I listen to German conversation or song. I only finished Module 1, so no a bad start. I highly recommend the Rocket school of learning a new language.
Great start with introducing simple useful words and a variety of conversation. Molte bene.
Uno: Reasonable speed to start
Due: Followed by increasing speed to normal speaking dialogue.
Tre: Steps you through with increasing dialogue in a manner easy to follow.
Quattro: Provides pronunciation tips of vowels and double consonants.
Cinque: Keeps up motivation
Sei: Self test requiring typing in the words as heard with proper spelling reinforces auditory and visual learning.
I need to get the microphone connected, but I am sure this feature will also impress and be very helpful.
The Arabic course is unique in that it teaches colloquial Arabic which is more likely to be understood by the average person. I personally am using it to increase my vocabulary to supplement my MBA and classical Arabic usage. So overall the course is great and would be 5 star if the mobile app worked regularly. If they can fix that and keep it working regularly I will gladly update my review.
I tried learning French using a CD set and books, but found the process slow and inflexible. With RF, I am able to vary the pace of learning and really focus on pronunciation. I also like the different forms of learning offered and the mix between conversational French and grammar. Well done on a great product!
Please can you let me know how I can use the keyboard in the "Write It" section? I am able to type some of the accents, but others are less obvious? Perhaps there are keystroke sequences that I need to learn?
Kind Regards
Murray Saunderson
Response from Rocket Languages
At the bottom left of the keyboard there is a check box that, when checked, shows the different accents.
The way it explains the language is very nice for a beginning student. The conversations are nicely spelled out and the speaking of the people is easily understood. The conversations are also spoken slowly so it is easy to understand and it isn't overwhelming. My daughter enjoys the application and hopes it will help her in french class this year in school.
