Step 1... click on the keyboard icon to enlarge it (its to the right of the space to write in).
Once enlarged you will find two boxes on the bottom right hand.
Step 2... Check the left box . It should read 'default. '
If not then open the box select the default item at the top in the "QWERTY" section and highlight it.
Step 3... Check the right box . It should read 'Chinese Simp Pinyin'
If not then open the box and under ' CN' section select it.
Once selected they should stay selected until physically changed.
To use the keyboard ...
Open the keyboard by clicking on it if its not already open.(you have to do this each time you first use the 'write it' section then place the cursor in the white box to the left of the keyboard icon and start typing in the 'pinyin' word you want. As soon as the first letter key is pressed the chinese characters should appear under the white space. The more you type of the word the closer to the front of the list it comes.
For example the pinyin word 'shuo' (to say/to speak) . When 's' is pressed the character you want is in position #3 . It can now be selected by moving the mouse over it and clicking on it or if you don't see the symbol then either type the next letter(s) 'shuo' until the word appears or press the '>'button at the end of the row of Chinese characters to see more choices. (Tone marks or nmbers aren't needed as the program doesn't recognize them).
Once the character is selected then repeat for the next pinyin word. etc. etc.
Its a bit wordy to explain but in fact is quite easy to use once you get used to it.
I hope this helps

I wanted to post something but every time I try I get a thin horizontal box (about 2 mm) with no way to proceed with the post. Thus, the only way I can post anything is to reply to an existing post. This is happening on both Chrome and IE Explorer. Maybe it is time for me to reboot my computer.
