Free Chinese Course

I noticed a new tab appeared in Rocket Chinese.  There is now a free Chinese course.  About once a week, a new topic in the form of a lesson appears.  What is the story behind this?  Is this being done for any other languages?

Hi Robert! Yes, you are correct, the Free Courses tab was added for the trial accounts, in order to make it easier for the learner to find previous newsletters; as you had commented, it's coming from this link:

Any person with a trial should be able to see the Free Courses tab; if you have purchased the course, the tab would no longer appear.

Cheers!

Well, I did purchase the course several years ago and the tab is available to me in addition to the two levels I bought.  It appeared about 6 weeks ago.  I like it so I hope it does not go away.  I also think it would be a good addition to the other languages.

By the way, I am still hoping to some day see a platinum level (3) for Chinese.

Hi Robert,

Just to double check with you, did you by any chance kept your trial courses after you purchased Rocket Chinese course?

There are plans of adding the 3 level to Rocket Chinese, however, I wouldn't be able to give you a precise date when it will be available yet :)

Cheers!

I never did the trial course so I have always used the paid version.  The free course adds material that is not necessarily readily available in the paid course.  I hope it remains.

I am happy to hear that there are plans to add a level 3 Chinese course.  I suggest that for the writing lessons you consider covering all 214 radicals and structuring the lessons around them, kind-of like you did in the level 1 course.  Also, add a testing tab to your writing lessons (including levels 1 and 2).

The free course tab is no longer there which is sad.  It disappeared when the latest upgrades appeared.
