play back is extremely slow

I just went to a page and started playing some of the dialog line by line and it takes about 5 seconds or longer before it starts playing.  Then it seems to wait for the points to be updated.  This is so slow it makes it useless.

I did a few "Hear it Say it".  It plays right away but when I hit reveal it takes about 15 seconds to show the answer.  Then when I enter a rating, another 15 second delay before the next test item is spoken.  It was working a lot better yesterday.  I have a hunch that the "points update fix" broke something else.

I expect to be able to play tracks quickly and to be able to run through the quizzes quickly.  If the points can be redisplayed quickly enough, just aggregate them in the backgound and show the updated total when you have a chance.

Right now it is too slow to be usable.

That's very odd! I've passed this on to the IT team to investigate. Thank you for letting us know.

I have a hunch (and I am a firmware engineer) that the process you all use to update the point totals in the leaderboard is killing the performance at times.  It didn't use to but I am betting you were more multithreaded at the time.  Now, it seems you are single-threaded so when it takes a long time to update the global points database, everything just slows down.  If the points updating were done in a separate thread, maybe that will prevent the main thread, the one I as a user am interacting with, to not slow down.

Can you tell me if you're still having this problem? There have been a few fixes over the past week. 

Everything seems to be running faster, like normal, now.  Hopefully, that will continue.
