What is the difference between 儿 and 子 meaning-wise?

When put together these two characters definitely mean son, but when seperate they could mean different things. 儿 among other things is used as a suffix on spoken words which can change meaning. 子 means many other things too. A dictionary could give you some definitions for these.

i will help you if you want to know about how to put chinese characters together to make words. if you know the sound of the chinese characters for example:
lets pretend this is Ni3 (ni) 开
lets pretend this is Ha3o (hao) 笑
and if you put these 2 together you get the word nihao (hello) 开笑
good luck on your Chinese learning! :)
