I would like to know what is the difference between
Shí hòu and shí jiãn they are both translated as 'time' in the course.
Also what does the jiãn do at the end of Shí hòu as in Shí hòu jiãn ?

Hi there,
"shihou" is used more for a rough time, similar to "moment", whereas "shijian" refers to an accurate time, (8:15 etc) or a period of time (30 minutes etc.)
"jiãn" as in "Shí hòu as in Shí hòu jiãn?", I am not sure which tone of jian you are talking about, as the tone you used is not a standard one. But based on the context, I presume it is the fourth tone, in which case, it means "see", so "....Shí hòu jiãn ?" means "see you .... time"?
I hope that helps.
