泳 (yǒng) = to swim However, I was taught to say 游泳 (yóuyǒng). 这个男人在游泳。 Zhège nánrén zài yóuyǒng. The man is swimming (right now).

Hi Robert, Thank you for your reply and additional word for 'to swim" 游 alone can mean surname You to swim to walk / to tour / to roam / to travel 游泳 (yóuyǒng)= to swim
