Clarification

Hello,

Could you please help with the conversation from 17.3?

"同正品的价格相比,

Tóng zhèngpǐn de jiàgé xiāngbǐ,

Compared with the genuine products,"

Shouldn't the translation say, Compared with the prices of genuine products? It is a little confusing. 17.3 is challenging! Thank you in advance for your time!

Hi Jojo,

Congrats on making it to level 3!

You're right, 价格 (jiàgé) = “price(s)”, and it's indeed less confusing to include that in the translation field. Thank you for the feedback; we'll fix it.

You'll find level three quite stacked, as we aimed to incorporate a few things in each audio lesson - grammar ideas, cultural points, chengyus, and topical discussions.

In 17.3, we hope to help you learn how to compare using 比 (bǐ) - on its own, and in words such as 相比 (xiāngbǐ) & 比较 (bǐjiào). A situation surrounding budgeting is also created in order to introduce vocabularies in the business setting, e.g. 折衷 (zhézhōng) “compromise,” 成交 (chéngjiāo) “a deal,” 亏本 (kuīběn) “to suffer a loss,” and 报价 (bàojià) “to quote” or “a quote.”

We also threw in a few 成语 (chéngyǔ), which are fixated four-lettered idioms usually with ancient roots, to help facilitate a conversation where more advanced Chinese is used. As you can tell, most 成语s' pinyin are bound together: like 不可思议 (bùkěsīyì), 货比三家 (huòbǐsānjiā), 不动声色 (bùdòngshēngsè), and 转身就走 (zhuǎnshēnjiùzǒu).

It's definitely a big leap from the previous levels/lessons, but if it's getting harder and harder, you know you're doing better and better when learning a language! (I share your pain as I'm also mid-way through a difficault language.)

Wishing you a lots confidence & motivation. :)

Hi,

If you're interested in fixing it, I think I found a typo when I was slowly using the speaking exercise in 17.4 (believe it should be nangui vs naigui in the pinyin).

Thank you for all your help!
