le monde, a subtle distinction

Hello,
I struggle to translate the sentences below.  The only problem is the one word.
.... the world opens, and the world, in one stroke, shines up
or
... the world opens, and the people, in one stroke, shine up. 
D'après moi, une œuvre réussie relève d'un dévoilement: un monde s'ouvre, et le monde, d'un coup, s'éclaire. Et si elle reste le produit d'une construction, elle n'est pas manipulation: elle est une autre vérité.

Can anyone open my world and in one stroke enlighten me?

I would translate as "...a world opens up, and the world, in a flash/stroke, is enlightened/illuminated."
