In conversational French, «là» is usually used to mean "here" as well. For example, if you're meeting a friend for coffee, and he/she doesn't see you sitting at the table, you would say «Oh, je suis là.»

Incidentally, "I'm here for you" would also use «là» : «Je suis là pour toi/vous.»

Thanks for the explanation, appreciated. Since posting, I have checked with my wife (French) too, and she confirms what you have said. However, at least in the part of the world I come from we would not say "I am really lost here" when talking about not following the train of a current conversation - it would be 'I am really lost there' (more likely 'you have lost me there' actually).  Either way, the literal translation in the lesson would be improved by being rewritten to "I am really lost here/there" to indicate the dual (English) meaning.

I agree that putting in a literal translation would help to differentiate this sentence from, for instance, Je suis vraiment perdu ici. I will pass this on to the French team to see to.

As for the English translation of "I am really lost here," a way of reading it that might make more sense/sound more accurate in the context might be more in the sense of "I am really lost (over) here." I hope that this is helpful!
