What is the best way to say "Come here"?

Can anyone tell me the best way to say "Come here"? For example, if i was talking to a child, would i say "viens ici" ? I overheard someone say "viens la".. in a similar situation - so does this mean the same thing? Or is it a colloquialism? I am a little confused, can anyone clarify?! Thanks!

"Viens ici" and "Viens là" are pretty much interchangeable. That said, when you want someone to come and sit next to you on the couch or something, I've only heard "viens là" used.
