Please advice the difference in using “aller” or “rendre” as in module 2.4 .
When to use rendre or aller? Module 2.4 ?

I also got confused by this, so Googled various sites and the consensus was they are interchangeable but with “rendre” being more formal.

Yes, I usually ask chat gpt about stuff like that ;-)
The difference is, that “rendre” also has two more meanings:
- - returning something: Je vais lui rendre son livre.
- causing a state or change: Cette nouvelle me rendre heureux (this news makes me happy)
- The interchangable one with “aller” that is more formel is reflexive: se rendre à
- - Il doit se rendre à l'hôpital ← → Il doit aller à l'hôpital
Another usage is: “rendre visite à” vs “visiter”
while:
- “rendre visite à” is ONLY used for visiting people: Je vais rendre visite à ma mère dimanche
- “visiter” is ONLY used for visiting places: Elle va visiter le musée demain
“aller voir” can replace “rendre visite à” in more colloquial french:
Je vais aller voir mes grands-parents dimanche. (courant)
Je vais rendre visite à mes grands-parents dimanche. (formelle)
This might be a bit much, but those are things that I came across during my studies of the course.
Thx to your question I found out about the “aller voir” that always confused me.
