German film

Been watching a series “Generation War” all the dialogue is in German with English subtitles. A brutal story, set during the second world war in Germany and Russia. Not the kind of thing I normally watch. But am trying to improve my listening skills. I just close my eyes and peep through my fingers if it gets too horrible. Really good listening practice though

Hi Sebongela

Where did you find this? I have been looking for a full version in German but all I can find on Youtube are edited clips?

I think I saw it somewhere a while ago, but my German is much better now and I would like to watch it again.

Hi Simon

I saw it on our local BC knowledge channel. So have no idea who else would have it. Not what I like to watch typically, but this one wasn't too graphic. Now that I have an idea of the tale, it would be lovely to have German speaking and subtitles to see how much I can comprehend in the written, as sometimes the speaking is too fast.

I also try and listen on YOUTube German songs with the lyrics.

Take care

Oh, that's a pity, I might be able to get it with a VPN if you are willing to give me the URL.

I've been watching stuff on ZDF.de, it has lots of films and TV serials, but some of them need a VPN. Many have German subtitles but there none in English. Detective shows seem to be the best as they tend to speak slowere with less slang than the dramas.

I find I can usually follow the plot even if I miss a lot of the dialogue, and I think it is good to listen to natives speaking German just to get the feel of the language without neccessarily understanding everything.

PS I found it already and I can watch it, great so I've got that to look forward to. I see it was originally on ZDF.

Hi Simon

It is our local knowledge channel. BC knowledge network.  Free online for all in Canada and a TV channel for BC residents. Have no idea of the url but you can find it on Google. Should you not find it can ask Philip for more details and will send them.

Take care sebongela
