Months and weekdays are not capitalized in Italian, so the right translation is the following:
Il suo compleanno è il 3 gennaio.
Variant: Compie gli anni il 3 gennaio. ("He fulfills the years on January 3rd")
It's il suo because possessive pronouns are always preceded by a definite article (exception is family relatives - mia mamma, mio papà, mia zia, mio fratello...), and it's il 3 gennaio because dates are again preceded by a definite article.
If you add the year, that becomes a birth date: La sua data di nascita è il 3 gennaio 1993.
