I would say, Ciao. "hasta la vista" is Spanish for roughly, until next I see you. Don't know how to say it in Italian.

Ciao a tutti,
in Italian "goodbye" is "addio".
"until next time" will be "alla prossima".
I hope this helps.
Ciao

Grazie:)
I am hoping to know enough italian to really enjoy my upcoming tripI will be visiting italy the first 2 weeks of October 2013. We will be visiting the Amalfi Coast, Rome and Venice, with a side trip to Alberona, where my grandfather was born.
I have been told that because of the many dialects in Italy, that I might have problems, even speaking formal italian. Is this true? I would think that even if someone speaks in a dialect, they would still understand formal italian.

Ciao Concetta,
I'm sure you will be ready for your Italian trip for October.
It is true that in Italy we have lots of dialects but don't worry as everybody speaks Italian in the main cities.
Keep practising and you will be able to speak to the locals in no time :)
Ciao

Brava Concetta!
Do you know that your name is very typical from the south of Italy?

Ciao Maria,
I will be visiting Sicily at the end of June and early July, 2014. I was told that the dialects are considerably different. What are the major differences between Italian and Sicilian, if any? I will be looking for family in Termini Imerese and was wondering what I should expect.
Grazie,
Jack
