Hello Everyone,

My name is Adam and I just recently started to learn Italian.  I have completed two modules so far, but I have one problem.  When I start a lesson or review a lesson, I remember the words and phrases, but when I try and talk out loud to my family, I cannot find the words and I draw a blank.  I was hoping that maybe I could get some tips or suggestions on comprehending the words so that I can start to speak Italian better.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Adam,   I am the same.  Away from the computer my head goes blank.  But what has helped me is having the conversations and reviews on my phone and listening to them over and over.  pausing and repeating.  My husband will sometimes how to say something and surprisingly i have the answer.  I also write out words and phrases while watching tv.  It helps!!

Hope this helps

Sometimes is is a confidence thing. If your not sure if you are going to say or pronounce it correctly, it is easy to just hold it in. Having the courage to make mistakes, even with native speakers, may help free some of the brain lock.

That´s very true, Raymond.
Please don´t be afraid to make mistakes, it´s normal.
When you have the opportunity to speak to a native, go ahead without holding it.
As I always say... practise makes it perfect :)

Buon divertimento
Ciao
