I wanted to share a link that I found very helpful in practicing my hiragana/katakana:

I started spending about 1-2 hours a day doing this and in no time, my speed at reading kana has skyrocketed. I can now look at sentences and pretty much instantly verbalize them. I'm getting ready to work on some kanji now, but if anyone is interested in a pretty fun way to dramatically increase your kana reading skill, I think you'll enjoy this. It would be so great if we could have something like this in Rocket Japanese! (hint hint, developers).
