Bonjour Rose, All adjectives follow "être" such as "Je suis contente". The only instance in which adjectives are used with "avoir" is in idiomatic expressions such as, "J'ai froid" - "I am cold" (although in this sentence it is considered a noun, but in other contexts such as following the word "être" it would be considered an adjective) J'espère que cela a tout clarifié pour vous - I hope this has cleared things up for you :) - Marie-Claire
