French Film

Bonjour à tous! I would like to start up a page about French movies because films can be a very useful tool when learning a language. It would be nice if everybody could share their favorite films and also suggestions of films to watch. In this way, we can all learn through cinema. Je veux bien créer une page à propos des films français puisque les films peuvent être très utiles à l'apprentissage d'une langue etrangère. Ça serait sympa si tout le monde peut partager leurs films préférés et proposer des films à voir. C'est ainsi que l'on peut apprendre tous ensemble à travers les films. Moi, je vais commencer! - I will start! J'adore le film "Incendies". Si vous ne l'avez pas vu, je vous conseille de le voir! C'est un beau film quebecois sorti il n'y a pas longtemps, qui inspire et fait réflechir! - I love the movie "Incendies". I you haven't already seen it, then I suggest you do. It is a beautiful film from Quebec that was released not long ago and is inspirational and really makes you think. Allez-y! What French movies do you like and/or have watched? A film that I've found helpful is "The Jesus Film". It's available in a number of languages. I'm still fairly new at French, and the first few times I viewed film, I had both the English and French versions running on my computer at the same time (each has subtitles). I watched a bit in English, paused it and then watched the same portion in French. Mostly now, I watch a few minutes of the French version whenever I have time. I still don't understand all of the words, but I know enough to get the gist of what's happening. I also watch films aimed at children; some have subtitles and some don't. For those of us are just beginning, the French is simple enough that the story line can be followed. These are on You Tube, but a link is given to www.bookbox.com. I also on You Tube annomated Bible stories which I enjoy watching. Again, I don't understand all of the words, but I understand enough to get the gist of the story. Les femmes du 6ème étage - The women on the 6th floor. It is very funny, and I understood a reasonable amount of the French. Plus, there is a lot of Spanish (when the maids talk to each other) for those who understand español. Les Émotifs Anonymes - Romantics Anonymous Also very funny, very off the wall. I watched both on Netflix streaming.

I liked the movie "The Fairy" Not a lot of dialogue, and it was spoken slowly! Offbeat - funny & sweet . Check out the graceful, athletic dancing. I wished it would have had french subtitles. cindy

Moi-meme J'adore La chorale. C'est tres amusant.

J'adore aussi "Les Choristes" de 2004. C'est un tres beau film.

J'adore tout les films de Simone Signoret in français! Je n'adore pas les films en anglais!

L’Auberge Espagnole is very good - it's on netflix, and it's sequel The brotherhood of the wolf is a good action flick in french and on hulu - there are a number of french series

J'adore le film "Amour". C'est un beau film. Georges et Anne sont octogénaires, ce sont des gens cultivés, professeurs de musique à la retraite.Un jour, Anne est victime d’une petite attaque cérébrale… À très bientôt! Antonio

J'aime beaucoup <em>Amour</em> de Michael Haneke! C'est un film bouleversant et plein de tendresse. J'adore aussi <em>Code Inconnu</em> de Haneke, avec Juliette Binoche. Il s'agit de les limites de langage et (mis)communication. (Oui, je suis un cinephile. :) )

Moi, j'aime bien le film "Populaire" avec Romain Duris et Deborah Francois. C'est tres mignon. Et aussi, "OSS 117 Caire, Nid d'espions" avec Jean Dujardin et Berenice Bejo. C'est un "spoof" Bond 007 tres hilaire.

The Returned. Sundance Channel recently showed the series.
