Why do you say 'Je te presente mon amie, Claire?' I am female
and Claire is female, and I'm told that 'friend' has an e at the
end. So why ' mon amie'?

Salut de Marseille ! Good question, normally, the form would be
ma for the feminine. But because
amie begins with a vowel, the mon
is used for euphony, so you don't have the two "clashing"
a sounds (or two vowel sounds in general)
next to each other.
I should add, this goes for words with h muet (silent 'h') also, like mon histoire (even though it's feminine).
