I am disappointed that if I make what I might think is an important enough mistake on the "Write It!" portion of the tests, I oftentimes have no choice but to rate myself as having done well, as only the green rate is highlighted. I think omitting accent marks, or misspelling a word even by one letter warrants an other than perfect rate. This lack of choice in rates prevents the word or phrase from taking the lead when I want to test on it again, after I've run through the list. I'd have to hear them all again to get to the one or two I need practice on if they're all auto-rated the same. Why not allow us to rate "Write It!" with all the choices highlighted, as it is available in most of the other test parts? Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Isabelle - Thanks for the feedback. I will have a chat with our development team to see if there is a better solution for all.

I agree, it would be very nice to do our own rating with the Write It, just as we do for the other tests. This would be nice especially where same sounds can have multiple meanings. For example: "Je suis venu et allé" sounds the same as "Je suis venue et allée." In the real world context would tell everybody what I meant when I spoke or wrote; however, the RF test isn't the real world. If I could rate myself, either response could be correct and be marked as Easy. However, the automatic rating would grade it Pretty Good if I typed the wrong response.

That's right, Diana, there is that reason you mention, too. I imagine that we're supposed to be learning to distinguish between the more nuanced sounds in some of those cases, but there ARE some which have no pronunciation difference whatsoever. Still, for learning purposes, I guess I'd rather be marked too low than too high.

Wow, thanks so much to Rocket French for listening and changing the format for "Write It!" which now allows us to critique ourselves with more options! Also, it was neat to think that Diana S1 and I may have affected that change just by writing about the issue in the forum you provide. Now "Write It!" teaches us even better. Yay!
