Rocket French - Updated Level 1 Language & Culture Lessons

Rocket-Languages

Rocket-Languages

Hi Everyone!

We've updated the Language & Culture lessons for Rocket French Level 1! We've been working on this update for most of the year and are excited to finally have this ready for you all.

We've created all-new lessons to provide you with improved explanations, useful new topics, and a wide array of new audio examples - all of which will help you with your French learning. You'll also find fresh Culture components at the end of each lesson to give you a greater understanding of all things French!

Since these changes have involved adding new lessons to the course (each of which is marked with a "NEW" label), your progress will unfortunately start from scratch for these. However, we are sure that you will find them a massive improvement on the old lessons!

Enjoy the new content - and please let us know what you think!

Best wishes,

The Rocket Languages Team

P.S. Look out for a similar update to Level 2 in 2022!

Hi. Great news you've updated and improved these lessons, but can we still get to the old lessons also and, more importantly, can I get back to the extensive notes I had made in each of the updated lessons?

Hi, is there any way to access the old Language & Culture lessons? I noticed that the content and vocabulary is now quite different, and it is sad that I lost the progress of these lessons now.

Hi MrP31 and PatriciaH37,

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We are working on a way for learners to access their saved notes (and possibly the old lessons as well for reference). We'll let you know here when we have a solution for you!

Since progress is tied to the lesson itself, unfortunately we can't keep your progress on the new lessons. We understand that it can be demotivating, but we're confident that the new lessons are worth it! They have completely new and improved content, which will really help you improve your French. Try them out and let us know how you find them!

Thank you for the response, Rocket. Personally I'm not concerned about the progress tracking being lost, although I'm sure others may be, but access to the old notes would be very useful (I have hundreds of hours of notes in there), and access to the old lessons would a ‘nice to have’ feature. If we'd realised the notes were going to be removed in advance of the update we would have cut and paste them somewhere else, of course.

Hi MrP31,

Good news! You should now be able to access your notes on the old lessons in your “Saved Notes” area:

https://app.rocketlanguages.com/members/products/3/notes

(Or, click on your avatar >  Tools > Saved Notes to view all your notes.)

A few things to note here:

- You can access the old lessons by clicking on the lesson link attached to your notes.

- You cannot access old lessons that you haven't saved notes in.

- There is no differentiation between old and new lessons in this area (so you may see two of the same numbered lessons). If this is confusing, we'd recommend that you transfer your notes to a new lesson (maybe on a relevant topic) and delete the notes on the old lesson by clicking the little X in the top right corner.

As a standard, we will make sure that saved notes and vocab are still accessible for future updates.

I hope this makes things easier! Let us know if you have any further problems or feedback. We hope you're enjoying the new lessons!

Thank you Rocket, that certainly works for me :)

I'm sorry but removing access to old lessons is very poor form, I can't imagine what were you thinking.

I did not have any saved notes, but was relying on you to keep my lessons there to refer back to in future. This is really not okay, I feel like you have pulled the rug out from under me.

Can you please restore the old notes and records of progress in them for those who have started them?

Congratulations on the new updates.

I agree it is a good idea to let your students know of changes, especially if they are about to lose their hard won old notes and threads. That you have worked to solve the issue is re-assuring.

Would it be possible to have an additional Search Bar please so we can find things like ‘Write A Review’ and ‘Badge System’ and ‘Personal Flash Card’ easily?

Where do we write a review?

Regards, Helen

Hi AB8189 and Helen-R12,

Our apologies for missing your comments! We hope you have found your notes in the “Saved Notes” area. If you are still unhappy, please contact us and we will try our best to address your concerns.

Helen-R12, we have recently redesigned the members area so you should find it easier to navigate. You can now find your Custom Flashcards and the Leaderboard in the left side bar under “Tools.” As for leaving a review, this can be found by clicking on your avatar in the top right corner of the members area. Or, you can use this link:

I hope that helps!
