Voice recognition French numbers (lesson 1.13)

The voice recognition does not recognize things like "le premier", "le quatrième", "le cinquème", and so on. Whenever I record it, it registers as "1er". For example, on the sentence where you have to say "Je suis le premier de la course", it registers as "Je suis le 1er de la course".

Is there a fix for this? I already checked this link https://members.rocketlanguages.com/members/help#225 and https://www.rocketlanguages.com/help/#226
I've already checked for updates on chrome. It is up-to-date.

Salut ThatGuyC !

Thanks for getting in touch with us about this, and I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue!

We haven't been able to replicate this problem on our end, but we've made a change to Lesson 1.13 (https://members.rocketlanguages.com/members/french/lessons/2660) that should help. Could you give these phrases another try and let us know if you're still experiencing problems?

Merci et bonne journée !

Liss

Hi Sorry for the late response. Some of the few that weren't working before are correctly recognizing the voice input. I think all of them except for the sentence I previously mentioned, "Je suis le premier de la course". It still recognizes it as "1er". Although, the phrase that just asks for "le premier" works correctly. I'm not sure what's different on my end.

Edit: Having tried a couple more times, sometimes it registers correctly! Anyway, I think it works alright this way. Thank you very much for looking into this :)

Have a good day!

Salut ThatGuyC,

Thanks for getting back to us! I'm glad to hear that the problem is mostly fixed and that it's working all right for you now. I've passed this back to our technical team to see if they can do anything to get it working 100% of the time.

If you have any other issues like this, please do let us know!

Merci encore. :)

Hello again! I think I always have a problem with numbers for some reason. On lesson "2.5 Asking After and telling the time" I can't get the numbers to recognize properly. They get recognized as digits like before eg. treize > 13.

Here's a screenshot. https://imgur.com/a/JhCPJwT

Salut ThatGuyC !

Thank you very much for providing the screenshot, and I'm sorry to hear that the voice recognition is still giving you so much trouble with numbers. We haven't been able to replicate this issue on our end either, but I have made sure to update our technical team on this and they will be looking into it. If you are having issues with any other aspects of the voice recognition, please do let us know.

Once again, our apologies for this!

Bien cordialement,

Liss

Salut ThatGuyC !

I wanted to check with you if you've experienced any improvements with the number voice recognition issue since we last spoke? Our technical team has been looking into it, but as we haven't been able to replicate the problem on our end, we can't be sure whether anything has changed so far!

If the problem is persisting, could you tell us which browser you are using?

Merci beaucoup !

Hi Liss,
I think the problem with the voice recognition on numerals tends to occur if it doesn't recognise something earlier in the phrase.
For example I just came across it in travelogue 3.2, with the phrase "Ok, so it begins at 3 p.m." which has the model French translation « Voilà, ça commence à quinze heures ».

If I say this, it works fine, but when I did the "Know it" phase, I mistakenly said « Et bien, ça commence à quinze heures » which it flagged as an error and gave what it thought I'd said as
« et b‍‍i‍‍en‍‍ ça commence à ‍‍15‍‍h‍ », i.e. put in the numeral instead of the words, and red-marked both the et bien and the 15.

From memory, I'd say that that's one of the common causes of this particular glitch.

Salut Peter--252 !

Thank you very much for those details! I will pass them on to the technical team. Voice recognition with numbers in particular is always tricky, but hopefully we can get it improved further!

À la prochaine,

Bonjour,
It is a bit of a relief to see that others have issues with voice recognition with numbers too. With me it is "vingt / vingt-cinq". I know that I have issues with this sound as my "vin" also didn't get recognised in the beginning, but while a bit of practice sorted the "vin" problem, I just can't seem to say "vingt" in a way that the computer accepts. Just knowing that it might be a technical issue makes me feel less of a fool ;)

A beintot
