Car ou parce que?

When do I use "car" instead of "parce que"?

"Parce que" (because) explains why something happens or why something is done (as in the cause or motive) , whereas "car" (because, for) indicates a reason. "Car" is not very commonly used in conversational French and is more common in formal or written French.
