Please tell me the difference between Ils ont & Ils sont ,maybe they have diferent meaning but sounds equal to me , when speaking to one how to make a difference of what I'm trying to say thank you

Meaning-wise, *Ils ont* is <i>they have</i>, *Ils sont* is <i>they are</i>. Sound-wise, you have to train your ear a little but basically, the *s* in *Ils ont* is pronounced more like a *z* [eehl zoh(n)]. And because you have a joindering of the two s's in *Ils sont*, it sounds more like a traditional English *s* sound [eehl soh(n)]. This is similar to the pronunciation difference between "poison" [poison, sounds like pwah-zoh(n)] and "poisson" [fish, sounds like pwah-soh(n)].
