Noun and Adjective Order

With a few exceptions French adjectives follow the nouns they describe, and those exceptions include adjectives describing the noun's age. Lesson 4.9 has the following sentence: "Je m'achète des vêtements neufs !" I wonder why the adjective "neufs" follows its noun "vêtements", when the adjective describes the clothing's age. Shouldn't the sentence read "neufs vêtements"?

Bonjour Diana! Actually, neuf is a different word to nouveau and therefore doesn't act in the same. Although it means the same thing and looks very similar, it is worth clearly separating those two words and how they are used. Note that if we were to use nouveau then the sentence would read: Je m'achète des nouveaux vêtements I hope this helps and keep up the good work! - Marie-Claire
