In Rocket French Premium, 2.9 Where am I? (Part 2), it says that "Pour aller là?" translates to "How do I get there?" I'm confused. "Aller" is the verb infinitive, so how can it mean "I go"? I would expect to use "Pour vais là?"
Pour aller là?

Hi - The French to English translation is inexact, but the gist is the same. The question is more indirect in French, like someone asking "To go there, if you please (s'il vous plaît)?", rather than "How do I go there?"
A more "personal" (using I/me) way to say it would be "Pouvez-vous me dire comment aller là?" (Could you tell me how to go there?)

Bonjour!
That is exactly right toru. Another thing to remember is that the preposition 'pour' can only ever be followed by a verb in its infinitive form, therefore for that reason as well you could not say 'pour vais là'.
As toru noted before, such kinds of questions in French tend to be a little more indirect than English.
I hope this helps,
- Marie-Claire
