The question here states, “Avez-vous fait votre valise vous-même ?”.  Isn't that supposed to be “Avez-vous faire votre valise vous-même?"

Bonjour Vani.

The French is correct as it is, as is the English translation.

Avez-vous fait votre valise is passé composé (past tense). It involves the use of the present tense of the auxilary verb (avoir, in this case) and the past participle of the verb, faire. Faire valise is how one says “pack” in French.

Avez-vous faire votre valise ?,  on the other hand, is one possible way of saying, “Do you have to pack your suitcase?”. Although it might be more likely expressed as, Devez-vous faire votre valise ?, since avoir is used this way instead of devoir only in certain circumstances. It might be easier to see this meaning if you take it out of the interrogative form.

Don't hesitate to say if some aspect of this isn't clear.

Thanks for clearing that up Robert.  I haven't yet learnt passé composé or past participle. So for now I will just memorize it.

You are welcome! Passé composé and past participles are definitely things to look forward to. They're a very big deal in French, and being able to comprehend and express yourself in past tense takes your French to a whole 'nuther level.
