TItle says it. If i remember my high school French you use Etre for verbs that indicate going somewhere and Avoir for everything else?
Like " I got back to the hotel"
Would be Je Suis Rendu A L'hotel? Am I right or wrong here?:)
When to use Etre vs Avoir for Past Perfect Tense

Well for a start I think you'd say "Je me suis rendu etc" otherwise you are "rendering the hotel" I am not aware of any 'rules' i just learn which verbs use être or avoir

Bonjour à tous!
There are 14 verbs (not including their derivatives) that take the verb être in the past tense and all of the rest take avoir instead.
Here is a link to a webpage that has a few mnemonic devices for remembering which verbs take être. Unfortunately you just have to memorise which ones take which form, there is no way around it.

Keep up the good work!
