Est-ce que and Pouvez-vous

Salut! I know that est-ce que vous means can you? And so does pouvez-vous. So what is the distinct difference between the two? Should we use one in a specific context exclusive from the other? Merci beaucoup!

Salut, I would like to know the answer to this question also. No one seems to be answering in the forums lately.

Salut, There is no major difference between 'Est-ce que' and 'Pouvez-vous'. However, I'd suggest using 'Pouvez-vous' as it is more polite. I hope this helps! Best of luck with your courses! :) Marie-Claire

Est-ce que literally means "Is it that.." Eg. "Est-ce que je peux brosser les dents?" Is it that I can brush my teeth? Or more naturally, "Can I brush my teeth?" Just though I'd put this here about it's origin.

Hi, How does est-ce que fit into " A quelle heure est-ce que cela commence " ?

As I said in an earlier post, est-ce que means is it that. So A quelle heure est-ce que cela commence. >At what hour (time) is it that this starts.
