Hi all, is it correct that you can greet someone by saying "salut" as well as using it to say goodbye? Just wondering...

So Salut is like the italian Ciao? That you can use for say hello and good-bye?

Yup, it's pretty versatile. As an aside, people also use "ciao" in France (particularly in the south), but it's used as a goodbye.
