How do I prounouce a French 'r' like in 'lettre', 'parler', and 'trois'? Where do I place my tongue? How do I shape my mouth? What does my throat do?

Bonjour Kntlne!
This is a very good question and one of the most difficult aspects people have to deal with when learning French.
The 'r' in 'lettre' and 'trois' should be very guttural and said at the back of your mouth/almost your throat. I know this may be an unhealthy image but think of it as if you are clearing your throat when you are sick.
The first 'r' in 'parler' should be said in the same spot as above, however it should be much softer and don't stress it because of the consonant that follows it. The second 'r' at the end of the word should not be articulated and - even though it does influence that way the word is said - it remains silent.
J'espère que cela vous aide! - I hope this helps you!
À la prochaine,
