Vocab/grammar in this sentence from lesson 10.4.

In this sentence: “Je vous amènerai tout cela demain matin”, from lesson 10.4, shouldn't the verb apporter be used instead of amener because it is talking about items and I thought the verb amener was only for people. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you. 

I ran across that while reviewing the lesson's Know It exercises just last week. I don't know what it says in the lesson material, but the exercise suggets that it's “colloquial”, which, in this case, should be taken to mean that it is indeed grammatically incorrect, but people are nevertheless using amener for everything.

Just as I wouldn't take the lesson's word for it, I suggest you also don't take my word for it.

Can you blame them? Apporter, emporter, amener and emmener and their, not just various, but highly variable, definitions are as ridiculously tedious as anything I've encountered in the French language.

I just thought I'd add my two cents' worth here.

You are correct ThomasL53, ‘amener’ is used with people or animate objects like animals, robots etc. while ‘apporter’ is used with inanimate objects, either concrete or abstract, such as fruit or help.

This is a bit clearer when we deconstruct the verbs:

• amener = mener vers (to lead towards)
  aporter = porter à (to carry to)

However, you may hear the verb ‘amener’ used with an object (instead of a person) in the case of taking a car to the garage for example. That's because you can't physically carry it, you have to drive it to the garage and it sounds odd with the root verb being ‘porter’ (to carry).

While this does not exactly apply with the context from the lesson i.e. bringing documents to a bank, it may insinuate that some of the documents are not physical but digital, and/or they are brining everything: their documents and their person to the bank.

This is the primary grey areabetween the two verbs.
