When I make my own flashcards to review vocabulary, there is no audio when I use the flashcards.  I have checked the audio button in the settings.  Perhaps there is no audio for self-made flashcards?

Are you using the app or the web version?

Are you saving entire sentenses or single words?
I always save the entire phrases and have the audio to playback (using the web version).

I am using the web version and I am doing words, phrases as well as sentences.  No idea why it's not working.

I think that single words might not work, but entire phrases do or should work.
I usually mark the entire sentence, everything that is shown.

Hi Michael-M15,

Thank you for your question!

ArminZ is correct; the course can only save a word with voice recognition capabilities if it is part of a complete phrase or if the word itself has a unique phrase box elsewhere in the course.

For example, Alors “Well / So” can be saved from the sentence Alors, Eric. Quel est ton meilleur souvenir d'enfance ? “So, Eric. What is your best childhood memory?” because it appears as a stand-alone phrase in another part of the course. Here is a screenshot for reference:

However, Quel “What” cannot be saved with the voice recognition option because it lacks a stand-alone counterpart.

Anything you see as a complete phrase can be saved with voice recognition. For example:

I hope this helps answer your question!

The technicalities having been addressed, my recommendation is to always revise words as part of a sentence or at least, as a phrase. Research shows it is far more effective in moving vocabulary from short term to long term memory.  At the end of the day though, learners have their own preferences.
