"Hear it, Say it" not working.

I have tried to use the “hear it, Say it” acitivity, but it doesn't seem to be working. Likewise in the “know it” activity, there is no feedback after recording the phrase.

I have tried logging out and back in again, but again no success. Also tried it in a different level, again no success.

It works OK in Rocket French, though, so is Rocket German being upgraded?

Tried again today - works ok now. Problem has disappeared.

Sorry this problem keeps reoccurring.  It seems to work for 10 minutes or so then I lose the model feedback (in the “know it” function) and the spoken sentence in the “hear it” section.

  1. Are you experiencing this in a browser, in the app, or both?
  2. Could you tell me which browser/app you are using?
  3. Have you noticed anything similar happening in the French lessons since you initially wrote?

Hello Liss, yes it's now happening in French and Italian as well.  I can restart by closing down and relaunching my browser, after which it works for a few minutes and then loses the audio again.

I note that other people are experienceing the same issue, see Play button and Recording not working in the general forum. (Not sure how to link it directly.)

I only use my browser: a PC using Windows 10, and Chrome. I use Norton and Malwarebytes as protection, but have used these for years and haven't so far had this problem.

Thank you very much once again for helping us try to locate and resolve this issue! We have so far been unable to replicate the problem on our end, but our technical team is looking into what might be causing it. They immediately noticed and have been able to put out a fix for a problem that affected playing back your own voice after recording; however, from your description, I have the impression that the audio you are unable to play is the native speaker recording - could you confirm for me whether that is correct?

If that is the case, could you let me know if you have noticed this affecting

  1. only the Hear It! Say It! and Know It! activities,
  2. all of the Reinforcement activities at the end of the lesson,
  3. the phrases in the lesson body (i.e. audio example sentences to practice throughout the lesson),
  4. the main audio track in Interactive Audio lessons, or
  5. all or several of the above?

I apologize that this is taking us some time to narrow down, but we hope to have a solution very soon! We also greatly appreciate your taking the time to provide us with feedback so that we know exactly where to look to find the issue.

Hallo Liss,

I perhaps wasn't clear earlier, but it is with the native speaker audio phrases.

I have noticed this in the Hear it! Say it!  and Know it! reinforcement activities, and the phrases in the lesson body.

I haven't yet gone through a main audio track since the problem arose, but I'll test that out shortly. It starts ok, and I'll let you know if it plays through or hangs partway through after I've tested it.

Also I haven't tried the Play it! dialogue, although it looks like one of the other learners has reported that in the other forum post (NicholasL23, if I've interpreted his post correctly).

OK, tried the full lesson, and that played through with no problems.

Then went through Hear it! Say it!, which worked for the first 17 (out of 38) then the native speaker audio stopped. (It's lesson 14.3 to be precise.)

If you press “reveal” at this point, it shows you the phrase expected; you can then record it, and the voice recognition seems to work, but you can't play back either your recording or the native speaker recording.

I then tried the Know it! activity, and while the voice recognition works, and it shows the phrase after you've recorded it, again you can't play back the native speaker audio, nor your own.

I notice also that I can, at this point, play through the individual phrases in the lesson body, although I've previously had problems with that. It's possible that it will only work for a certain number of these.

Addendum: I can play the native speaker audio for the extra vocabulary, and can record my own voice, but can't replay my own audio. However the Play Conversation is just not working at all, neither the simple play function nor the “Play as Matthias” etc.

I've just tried out Rocket French and that seems to be working ok for now. I'll continue the Hear it! Say it! and check whether that stops part way through.

Just stopped working in Rocket French as well :(
