Introducing the new Rocket German "Play the Part" series!

Hi Everyone,

We've been hard at work at Rocket German creating a brand new series for our German learners just in time for the holidays! Introducing our latest conversational series: Rocket German Play the Part.

The Play the Part lessons are designed to help you prepare for on-the-ground, everyday life experiences that you'll encounter while visiting or living in Germany. In them, you will use our Play It! feature to take part in common conversations (e.g. ordering meat at the butcher's or vegetables at the market; speaking with the cashier at the grocery store; phoning to make a doctor's appointment; etc.). At the same time, you'll also get some lists with relevant vocabulary and more handy cultural tips.

I have always liked the Play It sections of the lessons and have used them a lot for revision. So I was pleased to the the new Play The Part section, which provides practice with a number of every day situations.

However there is an issiue with speech recognition and numbers. This has always been a bit hit an miss but as there are so many numbers and prices in the new section it has become very annoying.  It breaks the flow if it gets held up on a number it can't recognise. Often the number is recognised as digits but it fails to realise the number is spelt out in the text.

It doesn't seem to make a difference if it is set to easy or hard.

Agreed.  I had the same problem.

As you say, when it involves shopping you're bound to have numbers popping up!

Hallo sfpugh und Peter--252!

Thank you very much for getting in touch with us with your feedback, and our apologies for the technical issues with the voice recognition of the numbers! We're applying fixes to sort this out now and these phrases should all be working properly quite soon.

We hope that once this is sorted out, you enjoy taking part in the new conversations!

Grüße,

Liss

Hi

Am having issues with numbers, also in Italian. It is either my pronunciation or tech, but this has been an ongoing issue for awhile now. Just have learnt to live with it, a fabulous resource and not all can be perfect.

I really like the Play It! feature, too. However, on my iPad (Pro Gen 6, iOS 14), it quite often stalls. I can't just restart the dialogue, it stalls in the same place. I have to force quit the app, re-enter, and sometimes then I can get through the whole thing, but sometimes it stalls in a new spot.

Hallo sebongela und gottahaveajava!

Thanks so much for contacting us!

sebongela, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the numbers in Rocket German and Rocket Italian. The voice recognition system does tend to have some issues when it comes to numbers, but we can often go in and fix the problem manually if we know where it's cropping up. Would you be able to send our support team an email (at support@rocketlanguages.com) with the lessons where you're experiencing these problems? Then we can see if we can get those issues sorted out!

gottahaveajava, I'm glad you are enjoying the Play It! feature! But I'm sorry to hear about the technical difficulties you've experienced on your iPad. I'll pass this on to our technical team to look into!

Grüße,

Liss
