Will going back after each lesson and learning to write the coversations that were printed help in the process of learning to speak and write in German? Also is there a German keyboard download that everyone recomends that will help me to type correctly in German? Thanks for everyones help.

Hi John
If your computer has Windows 7, you have a German keyboard already. Go to My Computer and click on keyboard. There are a huge number of keyboards you can download right there. You'll end up with a small keyboard icon at the bottom right of your screen with an abbreviation for your usual language beside it (EN for English). If you click on the abbreviation ,you have the option of toggling to a German keyboard (labeled DE). You can move back and forth as often as you like. :)

Sorry for the dumb question but I have switched over to the German keyboard on Microsoft Word however I am not sure as to how to get the new letters to appear. Is it using a shift key or alt? I am not sure. When I switched over it says German at the bottom so I am pretty sure that it has switched over to the German key board. THanks again

Hi John
That's not a dumb question at all. When the German keyboard is in open you will find the German characters in the following places:
ß is on the key that normally operates the minus sign, hyphen and 1/2
ü is on the key that normally operates the right-hand square bracket and squiggly bracket (next to the letter P)
ö is on the key that normally operates the colon and semi-colon (next to the letter L)
ä is on the key that normally operates the quotation mark and apostrophe
You don't have to use shift or alt; just use those keys.

PS you will find that the z and the y are reversed on the German keyboard. IE to type the word "zu" on the german keyboard you have to put "yu". Go figure!
