Proficiency Test Certificates. What level are they?

I have been doing the lessons for quite a while now but I never did any of the proficiency tests. Now though, I live in Germany and would like to be able to quantify how well I speak German as I am looking for work here. The information on the Proficiency Test page says that the tests use the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages as a guideline. I did the first test and got 97%. Hooray me!! But what does that mean? I now have a certificate that says I got 97% on the Rocket German Premium stage 1 test. That will mean absolutely nothing to anyone who sees it. The CEFR has 6 grades A1 & A2 which are beginner levels, B1 & B2 which are intermediate levels and C1 & C2 which are advanced levels. So which level am I at? Anyone know what the Rocket German Proficiency Tests are equivalent to? As well as studying with Rocket German I was hoping to go to a school here so that I can get some interaction with other classmates who are trying to learn as well but I don't know what level I need to start school at.

Hi Drachenherz, Glad to hear you realised your dream and live in Germany again. If you email the support team they might be able to tell you what level you are at. If you like an additional classroom course the Goethe Institut offers German courses and internationally recognized certificates. You can do a free German test on their website. http://www.goethe.de/cgi-bin/einstufungstest/einstufungstest.pl Besten Gruß Paul

Thanks for the link, Paul. A little discouraging to be reminded I'm still very much a beginner, but there are some interesting quizzes. I was a little astonished to realize how much better I did when I chose the option to be able to see the speakers and read their lips as well as hear the words. I wouldn't have expected that because I never considered myself a lip reader although I have observed that in international airports, for example, I can watch people speaking and tell whether or not they are speaking English even if I can't hear them.
