Hallo dear all!
I have tried the 6-Day Course beginning of this month and mid of the month I purchased the Rocket German Package but, honestly said, since then I haven´t been able to proceed much further. Am still working on the unit 1.4 of the Audio lessons and I just succeeded to finish the whole chapter 1. of the German Grammar. The problem is that, the whole day, I have a little "monster" around here with me who keeps me busy all the time and I can´t do anything else other than running after him all the time. The only time that I can sit down in peace and practise a little bit my German lessons is after 10pm that he sleeps but at that time am so exhausted that is not possible to learn much. :(
Before puchasing the Rocket German Package I was teaching myself German with the help of other books and audio cd´s so almost everything that I studied till now from the Rocket German course was already familiar to me and therefore I found it very easy to understand and remember. I can easily understand the complete conversation when listening to the audio lessons or when reading the transcripts and the Grammar lessons. I can even remember and repeat very easily any unknown words that I come across with. The problem is that if I try to repeat them the next day I hardly remember them. I was wondering whether anybody has any tips to give me to help my memory! I know that the best thing to do is to repeat the lesson in the morning as well, when am more relaxed but, with my little one, this is not possible.
I would be delighted to receive any suggestions and advices.
Danke shön und Gute Nacht!

Have you tried singing German songs and nursery rhymes to your little one or playing German games with him? Check out: http://www.mamalisa.com/world/germany.html . On my blog I have a cartoon with a traditional German song: Ist das nicht ein Schnitzelbank? Check out:

For games for very young Kinder try:

I hope this helps!

Oh! That is GREAT, that is GREAT Loreda! Danke Shön! :D
I was about to ask whether anybody knows any website with songs for kids and you preceded! Am really so happy of the information you gave me! Really!
And, yes, I do sing German songs to my son as we take him once per week at the Playschool and am learning along with him. Sometimes they give us the text of the songs but sometimes I just try to catch the song by just listening. I asked my husband and he found me most of the songs that we sing there from the internet but he just finds them in German. The Mama Lisa´s Pages is really GREAT as it gives also the translation in English and the rhyme. I found also some that I already know and we sing to our little one!
Vielen Dank! And thanks for all the rest. I will sure try them once I become more expert with my German!
By the way, the cartoon on your blog "ist shön"!
Bis Bald!

Furthermore, can somebody help me with the translation of the following phrase:
"Is it OK if I bring the kid to play at your yard with the swings?"
In the block of apartments where we stay there is a "very beautiful" garden but, UNFORTUNATELY, is forbidden for kids to play!!! Unbelievable, I know! But at the next block kids do play and the neighbours have some swings in the garden. Our little one is showing me all the time with his finger that he wants me to take him there and play. Well, I don´t want to go without asking first as I don´t know what they might think. So, how can ask them politely whether is allowed for the little one to go? If somebody can help me with this I would appreciate it!
Danke Shön!

Hi there,
it definitely is summer holiday time in Germany, so I guess quite a few of you are enjoying the heat? Very nice.
Now, if you want to ask whether you can take your son to this particular playground you can say the following:
Mein Sohn wuerde so gerne hier spielen und schaukeln. Ist das in Ordnung?
or
Ist es in Ordnung wenn mein Sohn die Schaukel benutzt?
or if you want to be very polite (submissive even)
Ich wuerde mich so freuen wenn Sie meinem Sohn erlauben wuerden die Schaukel zu benutzen. Waere das moeglich?
I hope the answer is yes!

Guten Tag Nathalie!
Vielen Dank für die Antwort! More or less I understood the meaning of the sentences but, it would have been nice to let me also have it in English. For now, please don´t bother to do so as I´ll ask my husband to tell me what is the exact meaning. The problem is that he believes that we shouldn´t ask and that´s is why he didn´t want to tell me how to say it and so I had to ask your help.
I don´t think they will say No as they didn´t say anything when my husband took the little one there 1-2 times without asking anybody. But you never know what they thought, isn´t it?
Vielen Dank!

Before I ask him, just let´s see if I understood well or not.
"Mein Sohn wuerde so gerne hier spielen und schaukeln. Ist das in Ordnung?"
My son would like to play here and swing. Is this OK?
"Ist es in Ordnung wenn mein Sohn die Schaukel benutzt?"
Is it OK if my son uses the swings?
I had some difficulties to understand the following one but, with the help of the dictionary, I hope am correct!
"Ich wuerde mich so freuen wenn Sie meinem Sohn erlauben wuerden die Schaukel zu benutzen. Waere das moeglich?"
I would be so happy if you allow my son to use the swings. Would this be possible?
I look forward to receive your reply, Nathalie.
Danke Shön!
