I thought Ko was used in four contexts
1/. Refer to animate objects. Pita jhi ko chai pilao. पिता जी को चाय पिलाओ

2/. For Subject Mujko, Isko.
Mujhe aacha lagta hai मुझे अच्छा लागता है. Mujhe manoranjak lagta hai. मुझे मनोरंजक लगता है
3/. To specify direction.
We were heading towards the mall.
Ham mall ko chal padhe the.
हम माल को चाल पड़े थे
We are going to kedarnath
हम केडारनाथ को जा रहे हैं
4/. Used to denote dates and days
On 15th august India gained indepenence.
15 अगस्त को भारत अजादी मिली
