I was there ( main vaha tha - Maiṁ vahāṁ thā - मैं वहां था)
we were there ( hum vaha the - हम वहाँ थे - Hama vahām̐ thē)
He was bad ( Voh bura tha - वह बुरा था - Vaha burā thā)

था (tha) - [he] was - masculine singular
थे (the) - [they] were- masculine plural
थी (thee) - [she] was - feminine singular
थीं (thee) nasalized - [they] were- feminine plural
