Anki Flashcards.

Hi,

A like the course so far, but I would really like a quick study flash card section. Ideally flashcard vocab I have not seen in a while. That way as you make it through modules you can keep older terms in your mind. Ideally a tool that does something like 50 flashcards for the day, using ones you struggle with more often to help drive them home.

With this in mind there is a great flash card app called Anki that does just this. I have seen on the shared decks with Anki that someone has taken this idea for rocket spanish. They have made decks for each module and loaded the vocab for each. I think it would be a good stop gap to have people on this forum split the work and get the vocab for the modules for italian. I have just started module 1 but I would be willing to find the vocab for the whole module and put it in a deck. But it would help to have others do the other modules/ survival kits as well. Anyone up for this? It will take a bit of time, as I think we should ideally get the audio on the flash cards if possible.

It's a great idea.  I signed up to Anki a few weeks back, and have found it to be very effective.  I don't have the spare time to contribute to your idea though.

Re flashcards in general: I have found them to be of little use in the early stages of a language, and of great value at intermediate onwards.  The best way to learn new vocab is via context I feel, as per Rocket's lessons.

Hi All

Haven't heard of this one. Will give it a try. Can one use it on a computer, I tend to not use my phone that much.

Ciao Rum, Chris and Maxie,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and your enthusiasm for enhancing the learning experience! It's great to hear that you are enjoying the course and have some valuable suggestions to make it even better.

Creating a flashcard section within the Rocket Languages platform that allows users to review older vocabulary and focus on challenging words is an excellent idea. It would indeed be a helpful tool to reinforce language retention and keep previously learned terms fresh in the mind.

I will make sure to share your feedback with the Rocket Languages team, including the interest in having a quick study flashcard section and potential collaborations among users to create supplementary resources.

In the meantime, if you have any other suggestions or if you'd like to contribute to the Italian modules, we encourage you to engage with the Italian language community on the forum. Working together can be a powerful way to support one another's language learning journeys.

Thank you for being an active member of our learning community and for sharing your ideas. We value your input and will continue to strive for improvements based on user feedback.

Buon proseguimento!

Ciao a tutti

Yes, would like that. Babbel has a revision program like that. Have just started Seedlang, for French German and Spanish. Their revision is amazing. As you come across new words, one can add them and you can then choose how often you need to review them. If one gets one incorrect, you can repeat it again in the current review or chhose a later date.

Unfortunately they do not have Italian, but intend to add. I have found that my German vocabulary is growing in leaps and bounds. Which I love. Spanish and French I am quite new to it, so going slower.

Hi! I made a small tool which you can run from your computer.

It prompts for your email address and password, and creates anki decks (+audio) for all of your purchased content.

You can check it out here https://github.com/yringler/rocket2anki

Note that any decks / audio you download with the tool are for your own personal use only, and can not be shared.

See rocket terms of use and anki terms of use https://www.rocketlanguages.com/terms https://ankiweb.net/account/terms

I've found anki to be hugely useful for myself (spanish), especailly for survival kit.

But it's really only useful as a supplement to support your rocket couse - just using flashcards is boring and pointless.

Flash cards / anki is great for review and solidfying vocab, awful for learning. Even surival kit which is mostly vocab has a ton of important info in the lesson which isn't in the flash cards.

Just a personal update on my previous post re Anki: I have re-read a number of articles that say learning vocabulary is most effective when learned from context as versus flashcards.  That's been my experience, and I no longer use Anki.  This issue is obviously one of personal learning style, but vocabulary via context definitely is more effective for me.  I'm investing the time more on Rocket as a result, plus some ‘easy reader’ books and podcasts.

Hi All

I agree Chris. I find in a sentence or reading something it is easier to remember. I use Deutsche Welle for my German. Easy Italian news for Italian. Haven't started one for Spanish. On Coffee Break the have a weekly reading. One can subscribe, but not worth it in my opinion as just listen and reading is great.

A presto
