badges and points

I have noticed that the points bar only shows the points you have achieved for that day. Not your badge and position on the board. I really like that, as I found that I kept on wanting to go higher on the leadership board. Now it is a choice, if I want to look at it I do. Typically I now just concentrate on how many point I have done and want to do a day. I do try and complete my goal everyday, though

Not to add to the confusion I hope,  but from the left, my bar shows both the badge/position in the table and the points for the day next to it.  Have you tried logging out and in again?  Chris

Hi ChrisM108

Have logged in and out, can see the points for the day on the right hand side top bar. Good enough just to see my daily points. Healthier for me. Didn't like seeing when is was 250 down on the ladder. This way I see how many points I have done for the day and leave it at that. That way I don't compete and now just do what I feel like doing. The Italian group are far more competitive than the German group, but I have got over trying to be first. It's called growing up

Hi sebongela.  I'm biased, but it's the best way in my opinion.  The acid test isn't ‘how many points have I accumulated today’ rather, ‘Can I remember what I learned last week; string a sentence together unprompted’, i.e. actually learning the language?  I have self-competitive ‘targets’, i.e. a minimum, decent, excellent learning level per day.  It depends on whether it's sinking in or doing my head in on the day!  Chris

HI again ChrisM108

I agree in theory, in practice I felt down the proverbial rabbit hole. I try and do grammar everyday or something that I need to grapple with. That means mostly grammar, although I have been doing some travelogue conversations too, just to get a feel for language. I got onto the treadmill of watching points and found it overwhelming, my fault I know. So I am happier and enjoying it all more now that it is not an obsession. It has taken me awhile to get off this. I think with better weather and more socializing outdoors it has been easier. Had the first vaccine 2 weeks ago, but still being cautious and will continue to do so. So happy learning for today
