How do I reset "Today's Points" to zero without losing credit for all progress made in a lesson on previous days?

At the beginning of each daily session I cannot reset "Today's Points" to zero without going outside the lesson to do so by clicking on "Today's Points".   When I do this & return to the lesson, all progress on the "Hear It", "Write It" "Learn It" and "Quiz" sections is erased and shows 0% completed when I have previously completed these sections on the preceding days.  

How do I reset my daily points to zero each day without doing that?

And how do I get credit back for those sections I have completed in "Hear It", "Write It" "Learn It" and "Quiz" that I have lost?
