Is there anyway that one can disable the points system. I no longer want to see points. It is taking away my spontaneity and enjoyment. That said I know that I can stop looking at it all. But don't seem to be able to. At this stage am stopping learning Italian for a bit, as am finding it stressful. I greatly admire those who can ignore it all. Being competitive doesn't help or a sort of an A type personality

Hi sebongela,

For the time being, it is not possible to hide/disable the points system, I apologize; but I will report your message to our Product Development team for their review and consideration.

Kind Regards

Hi sebongela.  It's not for me to say, but after decades of studying various languages, I understand where you're at, but encourage you not to step off the treadmill.  Rather, vary your approach, as I'm not the only language learner who is adamant that variety is essential to successful language learning.  (I don't know if Rocket will allow links, but here goes). Examples include:

  • Language Transfer (Just listen; no note taking).  You learn about how Italian is structured layer-by-layer, slowly and easily.  Excellent. https://www.languagetransfer.org/italian
  • YouTube videos: There are loads of Italian resources, and you can see how body language and accents can improve your understanding.
  • Duolingo: Just for a bit of variety. 10 minutes a day will keep your streak.
  • Memrise: Basically, a gentle vocabulary builder.

They're all free, and you are able to duck in and out as you please.  For my money, Rocket is streets ahead of any other languages product, but variety is a good thing.  My recommendation is to do at least 10 minutes of something Italian per day, just to embed it into the fabric of your day.  Have fun with it!

Buona fortuna!

Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for the links. Have not tried the link you recommended. Use various others. Have no intention of not continue to learn Italian and will continue using Rocket. I have just decided not to get into the loop of being near the top of the progress board. From now on will only do what I feel like doing daily. Was getting far too obsessed with my standing on the points. Began to find it frustrating as would be at the top and literally  a minute later would have dropped right down. I also know how long it takes to even get to a 1000, so how they do it goodness only know.

I realize that this was my problem and so have stepped away from trying to compete and will now relax and enjoy myself. Thank you for your input appreciate it
