I plan to travel to Japan in 2021 and I am wondering which place(s) will be the best to visit when I go there. I will be there for a week or so during the cherry blossom season. There will be a group of 4-5 people coming with me and the plan is to stay at one of the military bases (here is the list of all the bases: https://www.dodlodging.com/html/japan.htm). With this in mind, I am striving to find a very traditional and historical place in Japan with lesser crowds, a lot of seafood and other fresh foods (not fried since some of us are gluten free), castles and temples, and an overall calm and inviting place. I would appreciate it if someone presents me with ideas on the places I could travel to in Japan.

Nachi Falls near Taiji could suit you well for less crowds and very traditional. It is part of a major world heritage site for ancient temples and religious shrines.
