    konnichiwa!

Has anyone gone to a museum in Japan before. I'm wanting to know more about the

samurai and their history. I know in level 1 lesson 3.7  talks about the samurai but, I

really like their history so much I want to know even more about them. Like what they         would eat, how they would fight, and how their life would be like every day.

I tried to put a link on it. It is a well known book from d'Eiji Yoshikawa about the greatest samurai in Japan, Musashi Miyamoto, who wrote a small book “The book of the five rings” or “Go rin no sho”.

You have also a movie from Kenji Mizoguchi.

Hello Michel.

So d'Eiji Yoshikawa wrote a book, about the greatest samurai in Japan. And Musashi Miyamoto wrote a small book called Go rin no sho. Also their is a movie from Mizoguchi thats pretty cool.      Is the book that Yoshikawa made a true story about a samurai?

arigato.

Its not so much that museums exist in Japan about this topic, just about every city or district that you visit may have a preserved samurai area where houses and grounds are preserved as open air museums, castles too house all the artefacts and displays. You will get more of an insight by actually travelling aroung and visiting the sites than sticking to one single museum about the samurai.

Fuuka, I am not sure it is the "true" story but it is very inspiring. The museum in Ueno has a lot of samurai stuff, armors and katanas….

Konnichiwa Michel and Tony. I did not know about lots of the things you both told me.

What you both told me has helped me know and learn more about the Japanese culture.

Thank you both very much for answering my questions about samurai.

Hi Tony and Michel.

What I'm going to do is go their and speak full on Japanese. Also check out the places there with samurai katanas and their armor. Some of the places I'm interested in seeing are Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

There are some ninja theme parks around Japan as well. I have just discovered some and will be visiting on my upcoming trip in March.
