I have not purchased the Rocket Japanese, just looked at it in the trial. Can see the writing lessons for the other 2 charaters, but in the conversations it is a mix. As a trial run only have access to certain sections, but how does this all fir together. I can't find where I can contact Rocket directly, but am loathe to purchase unless I also learn to read the characters. It is all very well for me to speak, but if I don't learn to read signs etc won't help much if I am in a restaurant with a menu in Japanese. Will Rocket actually teach me this?
How on earht do youlearn Kanji

Rocket Japanese teaches it, but in context. They'll use the actual Kanji words and show you how to pronounce them. This is actually the best way to learn. Learning Kanji as separate characters is only so useful, because the way they're pronounced in compound-Kanji words can vary quite a bit!

こんにちは (Konnichiwa) sebongela and EarleyGrave,
Thanks for your question!
We cover all three Japanese scripts in our writing lessons, meaning you'll learn to read and write hiragana, katakana and kanji.
The first four modules will teach you to read and write hiragana and katakana. For these two scripts, we have videos which show the correct stroke order, as well as how each character is written.
From module five onwards, you will learn to read and write kanji. We also have an interactive kanji tool, where you can practice writing the kanji for yourself!
Just like EarleyGrave says, we teach everything in context. This means we provide example words for every kana or kanji character you learn, so you can see how each character is used in real life examples. This is particularly useful for kanji, since the reading often changes depending on which word it is used in.
Of course, we also provide audio for each of these example words so you can learn how to pronounce these words too!
So to answer your question, yes - you will most definitely be able to read signs and menus in Japanese by the end of this course.
You can contact us directly at support@rocketlanguages.com.
I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have any more questions.
