konnichiha! I'm new here and I'd just thought I'd stop by and say hello to everyone. This course looks brilliant and I cant wait to start learning to speak this wonderful language, for my all time goal is to head out to Japan, either in 2010 or 2011 to become either a Japanese games tester or a business translator or even a Japanese Ski rep! if anyone follows any of the same goals as me please feel free to contact me to share ideas. :P Dean

Hajime Mashite Dean-san I am also planning on being some kind of Japanese translator in the future. I learned that the job can be very stressful, so I thought I would just share that with you! and to help you out, it's spelled konnichiwa! :) I hope you have fun with the lessons, and to help you out more, do not delay your studies. If you really want to know the language, study every day for a good amount of time. Or you'll be like me...having the RJ program for nearly 1 year and only near lesson 3 :(

はじめまして！ ha ji me ma shi te! (First time) Greetings! わたしのなまえはデレック。 wa ta shi no na ma e wa de re k ku. My name is Derek. よろしくおねがいします！ yo ro shi ku o ne ga i shi ma su! I wish our relationship stays on the positive side... Nice to meet you... etc. それでは。。。 so re de wa . . . Having said that... In romaji, こんにちは！ is konnichiwa! However using an english keyboard to type Japanese characters (using the Microsoft IME or similar software) its typed konnnichiha! (Remember ha is used for the partical WA) 3 n's because first 2 make the ん then its on to ni に. so んに is typed nnni but in romaji is nni... Moving on to my actual personal response... Being a game tester or overall tester of products prior to their release (probably known as a beta-tester) sounds like the job for me... As I already do it a lot （＾－＾）。 I beta test XXX for Rocket Languages and Windows 7 for Microsoft as of right now... I could sign up for the STEAM client beta test, but I'm busy doing a thorough job on the one for Rocket Languages (Windows 7 is just utilization of my computer in general). One thing to know though is that if you are going to be a game tester, knowing a bit (or A LOT) of the working of programming and computers will come in handy! Especially when giving feedback to your employer. I'm sure a programmer debugging things will appreciate if you can literally just say "Thing x is not working this way because of..." (I know from programming myself how beneficial it is). On the side of Business translator, while I wouldn't mind it I'd prefer a job more centralized around Japan... as in I'd get to stay in Japan... unless I get THAT good at drums and would be able to form a Japanese band that traveled the world then I'd be fine with going outside of Japan... but otherwise would prefer to be an IT guy, english teacher, or otherwise in Japan. I have 7 years of school (including collge of course) to go before I can really get to Japan and live there as I plan to do so I have plenty of time to properly learn the language, culture and etc. to the extent/thoroughness of a native speaker. IDK a thing about being a Ski rep so yeah... But we can still share our strategies on game testing if we so desire so really. I'm sure we can find a good conversation to start up in here (hopefully in Japanese).
