points system & badges

So the points that we earn from last month do not carry over into the next month instead we earn points all over again. Am I right? There seems to be a point where the points you are earning just stops, this happened to me and I also noticed after I reached a new level the points just were not adding up even though under "recently received points" I would still see new points that I earned from doing other things I.e master games. Is it like when u level up the points ur earning stops?

Not quite. Let's say you suddenly earned 1000 points. They would appear under the new points list, but maybe it would take a while for the overall stats to be updated. At least this is what I noticed. For the "Best points earners" monthly list, those points reset, but your overall earned points remain the same and you still advance in level and badges :). And yes theoretically, you should stop earning points once you reach the "Japanophile" badge, however, practically, you can earn an infinite amount of points as long as the forum exists and as long as you can post new things in it...

Thanks I think your right about the system Taking a while to update stats this happened to me shortly after posting this question. I really like the points system because it forces you to study hard in order to get the most points I also think that someone would need the intermediate or advanced courses to get really high scores. I'm currently aiming to be number # 1 by the end of the month if not at least in the top 10

Be careful though, this grading system can have a drawback: you start focusing on gathering points and lose your aim of learning the language by going through the lessons just for gathering more of them...

Thanks I've often thought about how many people are doing that but they would just be cheating themselves. I currently just memorize all of the interactive audio lessons and see how fast I can repeat them out loud and how many times a day I can do this. Then I use the hear it, say it, know it, to study the language lessons.

Point systems, do have that drawback of focusing on points rather than focusing on learning, but it can be a helpful motivator if you are struggling to keep going, so 頑張ってください! Also, I'm inherently biased as currently I'm the guy with the most point with a neat little badge so... lol...
